Programs

A class for each age and level

Teens and adults train under one roof, in classes by age. Each card shows its length and its size.

  • Youth squad

A competition-minded squad for ages 12 to 17. Practice starts with falling and grips, builds to throws and holds, and ends with live practice. Squad places open each September and January.

    • 90 minutes

    • Up to 20 members

    • Parents watch from the bench

  • Teen fundamentals

For new teens, ages 12 to 17: how to fall, how to grip and the first throws. Teens move to the squad when the coach sees the skills.

    • 60 minutes

    • Up to 16 students

  • Adult judo

Technique on Monday and Wednesday, randori on Tuesday and Thursday, fundamentals on Friday and open mat on Saturday. Beginners start in any technique or fundamentals class.

    • 75 to 120 minutes

    • Up to 24 students

A class

Bow in, warm up, fall, then throw

Every class follows a shape you can count on. Squad and adult classes end with randori: live practice at the level the coach sets for each pair. Students bow in, line up and wait their turn, and parents wait on the bench along the wall.

  • Falling both ways, every practice

  • A grip and a throw, drilled with a partner

  • Randori at a pace set by the coach
